Mimi says: "For our discussion on Zoom at 11am on January 5th, we have a book that I recently listened to and it made me laugh out loud repeatedly: 'Fight Night' by Miriam Toews.  Toews is a Canadian author who's written several novels, usually informed by her experience growing up in a Mennonite community and the mental illness that runs in her family.  This novel is told in the form of a 9-year old writing to her absent father.  Swiv lives in an apartment with her mother and grandmother in Toronto.  She's been kicked out of school for fighting, and her hilariously eccentric grandmother is now in charge of her education while her mother, a pregnant actress, is at rehearsals all day.  So many great themes to discuss about what it is we are fighting for in our lives, and how we cope and find joy after tragedy."

This title now available in the store for 20% off to book club members.
